Our Story

From financial literacy to Alzheimer's advocacy.

EverThrive didn't start with Alzheimer's. It started with scams, smartphones, and senior centers — and grew into something bigger. Here's how we got here.

Chapter 1

Our Beginning: Financial and Technology Literacy

EverThrive began as a nonprofit addressing financial and technology literacy gaps among local seniors. We hosted learning sessions at senior centers, using proceeds from our volleyball tournaments to fund them. Fraud prevention, digital safety, budgeting basics — practical sessions that helped older adults navigate systems that weren't built with them in mind.

The tournaments gave us a way to raise money. The learning sessions gave us a way to spend it well. Both brought students and seniors into the same room, and that connection is what started changing how we thought about our mission.

Chapter 2

Expanding into Senior Wellness

Working with seniors broadened our mission. Financial literacy was the entry point, but the people we met needed more than scam prevention. They needed movement, community, and someone showing up regularly. So we grew.

We partnered with the Alzheimer's Association, hosted a Do What You Love fundraiser, and joined the committee for the Raleigh Walk to End Alzheimer's. Our committee work focused on youth engagement — getting younger voices into the room where Alzheimer's advocacy happens.

The Raleigh Walk raised $480,000 toward its $550,000 goal. That total belongs to the entire Walk and everyone who participated — not to EverThrive alone. But being part of it shaped what we did next.

Chapter 3

Becoming an AFA Teens Chapter

In April 2026, EverThrive became the Alzheimer's Foundation of America's AFA Teens NC chapter. The Alzheimer's Foundation of America is a separate organization from the Alzheimer's Association, and our relationship with each is distinct.

Our work is now centered on Alzheimer's advocacy, building on our original commitment to senior wellness. The learning sessions, the tournaments, the walk-day committee work — none of that went away. It became the foundation for what we do now.
